Critical Reasoning

Premises + Assumptions = Conclusion

Intro
1.30 mins - 2mins, 13-14 questions
Objective 1 - Identify if stimulus is fact set or argument
Fact set - Premise
Argument - Premise leading to conclusion
Objective 2 - Fact set - Examine each fact | Argument - Find conclusion

How to find conclusion?
Conclusion identification method

Strength of the argument
Deductive argument - rarely on the gmat
Inductive argument - not guaranteed - mostly on the gmat
Argument can be strengthened or weakened by adding premises
Assume premises as true
Assumption - unstated premises

Different types of arguments
1) Cause and effect (X cause Y). Correlation is NOT equal to Casual
Weaken - prove other causes lead to that effect, show Y cause X instead or purely coincidental
Strengthen -

2) Statistics

3) Analogy

Roy Wilkins was among the last of a generation of civil rights activists who led the nation through decades of change so profound many young Americans are not able to imagine, even less to remember, what segregation was like.

A so profound many young Americans are not able to imagine, even less to remember
B so profound that many young Americans cannot imagine, much less remember
C so profound many young Americans cannot imagine nor even less remember
D of such profundity many young Americans cannot imagine, even less can they remember
E of such profundity that many young Americans are not able to imagine, much less to remember
Use more concise terms like "so profound" instead of "of such profundity".
"cannot" vs "not able to"
"much less" vs "even less to"

Slips of the tongue do not necessarily reveal concealed beliefs or intentions but rather are the result from the competition between various processing mechanisms in the brain.
